Unicity Meets with Medical Advisory Board

Go to LPGA Takefuji Classic official websiteOrem, Utah (March 5, 2005) David V. Clare (Unicity's Chief Marketing Officer) and Peter Verdegem (Chief Scientist) recently met with Unicity's Medical Advisory Board in Boca Raton during a CEU event sponsored by Unicity International.

The Medical Advisory Board is comprised of practicing medical and health professionals that specialize in Cardiology, Family Practice, OBGYN (Gynecology), Optimology, Registered Nurses, Hormone Treatment, Fitness Training, Dietitians, and more. .

Clikc to go to MAB websiteThe purpose of this annual summit meeting was to bring together leading health professionals and our science R&D team to review our current formulations, discuss integrative health and medical trends, and share strategic directions of the company. The Medical Advisory Board (MAB) acts in an advisory role to ensure our nutritional sciences research is backed by medical sciences and clinical studies.

Dr. Peter J.E. Verdegem, Unicity's Chief Scientific Officer, obtained his master of science degree in organic chemistry from the University of Leiden in the Netherlands and, after four years of research on the structural and dynamical aspects of the human eye, received his Ph.D. in bioorganic photochemistry. Doing post-doctoral research at Stockholm University in Sweden, he developed techniques to study proteins at molecular levels. At Nijmegen University Medical Center in the Netherlands, he studied and developed noninvasive technology to diagnose prostate cancer. At Royal Numico Research & Development, he helped develop and clinically substantiate dietary supplements for a broad variety of health conditions, such as menopause, prostate health, eye health, Alzheimer's, ADHD, dyslexia, diabetes, and obesity. Dr. Verdegem's scientific work has been published in over 20 peer-reviewed publications. In 2004, he moved to Utah and joined Unicity International to head the Research & Development Department. In his new role, he is responsible for product development, clinical substantiation, and the scientific training of Associates. Peter is fluent in five languages, including Dutch, English, French, German, and Swedish. He brings to Unicity many specialized skills in science, finance, and project management. A native of the Netherlands, he enjoys travel, culture, culinary arts, wine, and stocks.

During this summit, many strategic directions were also shared with the Medical Advisory Board, including how to broaden the Medical Advisory Board's role across the global markets. Creating a Medical Advisory Faculty to draw upon the large number of health professionals in each market will greatly expand Unicity's ability to find more research, discover new sciences, and continue to expand our clinical and medical trials to showcase how nutritional sciences and traditional medical sciences are converging into the next generation of health practice.
